Summer Recreational League 

 

The House League is a community-based recreational league open to all players boys and girls ages 4-13 of any skill level and ability. Our House League program is strategically designed to offer fun and excitement to children in a team format while supporting a healthy and active lifestyle for all players. The Club is also focused on ensuring our players are playing in a safe environment while providing an exciting and fun experience for the players and parents. The program runs for 12 weeks, two nights a week from Monday-Friday including practices. Approximately 35 minutes of training by paid educators followed by a 30 minute game against another team. Monitored by a volunteer parent coach.

Recreational League (FAQ)

When does it start, what time?

The program starts in May and ends in August. Registrations start in February Games start at 18h00-19h30 and 19h30-21h00.

 

What is included in the registration fee? 

Included in the registration are the following items: jersey, shorts, soccer socks, bag, and a soccer ball. One of each. Also included for the players and the coaches is an award and lunch at the *End of year festival. 

 

What do I need to buy?

The parents are required to buy the exterior soccer shoes with cleats and shin guards.

 

When will the game schedule be ready?

The game schedules are posted on the web site ready by the beginning of June.

 

Which parks do they play?

The games are scheduled between these parks: Marcel-Laurin Park (ML) or Philippe-Laheurte Park (PL). Tip: Click on the parc link to locate the field numbers the matches will be played.

 

Registrations

You can register either online or during office hours. Registrations open in February and are posted on our web site as well as the official in-person registration dates. Medicare information is required before registering. 

 

Terms of payment

The payments accepted online are Visa and Master Card. Payments accepted during office hours are Visa, Master Card, debit, cheque or cash. Cheque payments are issued to Saint-Laurent Soccer Club. A Debit machine is available in the Sports Complex.

 

 When is the registration deadline?

The deadline to register is May 15th, 2020. $50.00 late fee registration will apply for registrations received after the deadline date.

 

How do I know the correct age category?

To determine the correct age category you subtract the present year to the year of birth of the player. Example: The present year is 2012 minus the players year of birth 2012 is U8, regardless of the month the player was born.

 

Coaches

All teams are assigned a volunteered coach before the season starts. Coaches in the Recreational program are volunteers from our community with or no experience. However, there are times the assigned coaches withdraw at the last moment which leaves their assigned team without a coach. The quickest and best solution in this situation is if one or two of the parents from the team volunteer to coach. A complete vulnerable sector screening is mandatory (police check).

 

When does the coach contact us?

The coaches are advised to contact the parents by e-mail within one to two weeks before the first game. If you have not been contacted one week before the start of the season, please contact us.

 

Do I pay less to register if I volunteer to coach?

Volunteered coaches receive $50.00 at the end of the season If you are interested in coaching your child’s team, click here to apply. Training provided. No experience required.  A complete vulnerable sector screening is mandatory (police check).

 

Can my child be on the same team as their friend?

 If they have the same year of birth you can request by e-mail.

 

What happens in case of rain?

Cancellations due to rain, bad weather or field closures may occur during the season. Cancellations will be announced by either your coach or by visiting our home page www.soccerstl.ca occasionally during the day. Cancellations will be posted by 17:00 or earlier. Matches are immediately cancelled if thunder or lightning occurs during a match. Please note: Cancelled games due to bad weather are not rescheduled or refunded.

 

Do teams have a referee?

Games include one referee for the categories U9-U13.

 

How many players play on the field?

Players 4 to 8 years old play 5 verses 5 and ages between 9-13 old play 7 verses 7.

 

Do the players require a picture or soccer passport?

Recreational league players do not require a picture or a soccer passport. Competitive players do.

 

*What is the end of season festival?

At the end of the season in August the Club hosts and invites all players, parents, coaches and family members to celebrate their last day of the season held at the Marcel-Laurin Park (ML). Lunch is included for the teams and an amusement park is on-site for the children. The teams will play their final friendly match of the season and afterwards will be greeted on stage to receive their award, A special day for teams and parents!

 

How are teams created?

Players that register in the recreational league are randomly selected in a team according to by their year of birth and gender.

Are there standings in the Recreational league?

No. Standings are only available in the competitive league.

 

Safety Precautions

In order to prevent injuries we ask for the following: soccer shoes with cleats and shin guards are mandatory for each game. No running shoes or jewelry is permitted. Double knotted shoelaces are advised and long hair requires to be tied. Players with symptoms such as fever, coughing, vomiting or a contagious illness are not be allowed to attend their match.

 

Refund Credit Policy 

Cancelled matches due to rain, bad weather or poor field conditions are not rescheduled or refunded. No refunds are granted due to absenteeism, injuries, conflicts with other activities or moving to a different suburb, city, province or country. A $75.00 service fee per participant applies if a refund is accepted. Refunds require to be handwritten using the Refund Credit Policy Form and submitted by e-mail or submitted in person during office hours. Credit notes may apply if a refund is not accepted. Credit notes can be applied within one year towards a different program we offer. Refunds are issued by check and require four-week delivery.

 

How can I receive the tax receipts?

Tax receipts for the recreational and competitive programs are available online at www.soccerstl.ca starting in January of the new year. To receive the tax receipts for the Camps or the Soccer School EDS programs you will require to request your tax receipt by e-mail at info@soccerstl.ca indicating the participant’s name. In return, you will receive the tax receipt by e-mail within five business days.

Competitive League Summer

 

The Competitive League competes with teams in the Lac Saint-Louis Region and travel in the suburbs across Montreal. Teams have approximately 1-2  matches per week and practice between 2 to 3 days a week. Girls and boys teams consist of three categories ranging from  A, AA & AAA starting from ages 7 up to seniors. Players wanting to join a winter or summer competitive team require to attend a tryout session within their age category. How do I know the correct category I belong to?

 

Categories are calculated by the present year minus the year of birth of the player. Example: The present year is 2020 and the players year of birth is 2012, regardless of the month they were born. The correct category is U8.

What’s included in the registration fee?

 

The uniforms included are two sets of jerseys, shorts and soccer socks. *One dark and one light coloured uniform The equipment included is one soccer ball and one sports bag. Referees, linesmen, end of year festival, lunch and an award is also included.

 

*When do we wear the light and the dark coloured uniforms?

 

The dark coloured uniform is worn during the home matches and the light-coloured uniform is worn as a visiting team. Players are asked to bring both coloured uniforms to each match. Uniform colours can be switched at the last moment.

 

What do we need to buy?

 

Exterior soccer shoes with cleats, shin guards and a water bottle.

 

How many matches and practices per week?

 

Depending on the level of the team, in general, 2-3 practices and 1-2 matches per week are included. Matches and practices are during the weeknights and weekends. Match schedules are indicted on the PTS website. The coaches advise the players their practice sessions, time and park location.

 

Which teams do we play and where?

 

The STL Club and the teams we play against are associated with the Lac Saint-Louis Region. Matches are played in the City of Montreal and surrounding suburbs. View teams and locations here  > Click on Clubs

 

Where do the teams practice?

 

Practices are in one of the three exterior home parks. The coaching staff will advise the players on the time and place concerning the practice sessions.

 

When will the match schedule be ready?

 

The match schedules are posted in the month of April and they can be viewed on the PTS website.

 

Where can we view the standings per team?

 

The standings are indicated on the PTS website.

 

Do players and coaching staff require to take a head photo?

 

Yes! Each player including the coaching staff requires a head picture in order for the Lac Saint-Louis Region to validate the player. Photos are valid for three years and 5 years for 19-year-olds and older. The pictures are taken during office hours.

 

Do players and coaching staff require a soccer passport?

 

Yes! Players including the coaching staff are required a validated soccer passport. Passports are valid for two years

 

What are mandatory for players?

 

Before the match starts the referee will take attendance of the coaching staff, players and verifies the list below. Players missing one of these items below will not be able to play the match.

  • Soccer shoes with cleats and shin guards
  • Complete uniform with the appropriate uniform colour
  • Validated picture and soccer passport
  • No jewellery
  • Hair tied

 

What happens when it rains or experiencing bad weather?

The teams are required to attend their match regardless of the bad weather. The referee is the only one who can decide if the match will be cancelled due to, rain, thunder or bad weather. Failure for the team to present themselves to the match will be considered a forfeit for the team. Matches, officially cancelled by a referee, will be rescheduled by the region on a later date.

 

Coaches structure and communications?

 

Generally, the coaching staffs consist of one head coach, assistant coaches and a team manager. The coaching staff communicates with the players and parents either by e-mail, social media or by a sports software like TeamSnap.

 

Coaches qualifications? 

 

  • Coaches in the AA & AAA divisions have a Soccer-Québec diploma certifying technical and pedagogical aptitudes to teach soccer.
  • Coaches in the A & assistant AA & AAA have a training educator certificate courses S1, S3 & S7 to work with children in the competitive and recreational leagues.

 

Tournaments?

 

The coaching staff determines if they participate in tournaments during the season. Tournaments are not included in the registration fees.

 

Fundraisers event?

 

In order to help fund the team’s expenses such as tournaments, the coaching staff may create fundraiser events that all players require to participate.

 

Do the competitive team’s practice in the fall and winter season?

 

Yes! In order to be ready to compete for the following summer season, all teams are required to practice during the fall and winter season. View the Winter Competitive League for more information.

 

How do I claim the tax receipts?

Summer Camp

 

Since 2013 Saint-Laurent Soccer Club (STL) has been offering Summer, March and Winter break day camp services to our multicultural members and community ages between 4 to 15. The morning programs are focused on soccer-related activities and a variety of interesting and fun activities during the afternoons such as arts, crafts, assorted sporting games, swimming and more! Campers are grouped based on their, age, gender and soccer abilities. Beginners and existing soccer players will enjoy making new friendships while learning basic, fundamental and advanced soccer skills. Campers can expect a fun and supportive environment while learning and reaping a memorable experience!

 

 

Summer Camp (FAQ)

Active start program

4-5 years old

This program is specifically designed to cultivate your child’s love for the game and to further advance their overall co-ordination skills and motor development such as running, hopping, jumping, and more. Activities are delivered in a fun and safe environment filled with various games and exercises.

 

Fundamental

6 – 10 years old

Morning sessions are focused on the techniques and skills required by the individual player. These abilities will be developed through fun-filled activities and developmental soccer games. The afternoon sessions will focus on small-sided games and recreational activities.

 

Skills and Tactics

11-15 year old

Morning sessions focus on advanced individual techniques and skill development. A strong emphasis is placed on quality in this program and at a higher intensity. Afternoon sessions will focus on the individual as well as group tactics in small-sided games.

Locations

Signing in and signing out will be at the front entrance of the Saint-Laurent Sports Complex. The Parks Marcel-Laurin and Bourbonnière are the main parks the campers attend if the weather permits. In case of rain, the campers will remain indoors and enjoy the facilities the Saint-Laurent Sports Complex has to offer. Outdoor soccer and other activities are held at Marcel-Laurin Park and the swimming activities are at Bourbonniere Park. Parks and pool locations are subject to change.

What To Bring Daily

Campers are required to bring their lunch and a knapsack with the following items: shin guards, soccer shoes with cleats, running shoes, shorts, headwear, sandals, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, spare clothes, water bottle, medicare health insurance copy, life jacket, medication and EpiPen if necessary. All items require to be identified clearly with their names.

 

What Not To Bring Daily

Some children have life-threatening allergies to peanuts and nuts. No lunches or snacks containing nuts, peanuts and sesame nuts.  Lunches require to be 100% nut-free. No electronic devices or valuables.

 

Lunches and snacks

No refrigeration or microwaves are available during the day. A cold lunch including an ice pack or a hot lunch in a non-glass thermos including a water bottle and two snacks is recommended. For the safety of our campers with severe allergies, we ask you to provide your child lunches and snacks containing no nuts, peanuts or sesame.

 

Supervision and Ratios

5 – 15 years old 10 campers per counsellor, plus one assistant

 

Health & Safety

Any medication you authorize the camp to give to your child will require to be authorized by completing a form upon signing in. Campers with symptoms such as fever, coughing, vomiting contagious illness etc. are not admitted to the camp. If symptoms arise during camp hours you will be contacted and advised to obtain your child immediately. The swimming pools the campers participate during the afternoons have certified lifeguards and are supervised by the camp councillors. The swimming pools have one separate small pool for toddlers up to 5-year-old children and one larger pool. For the camper’s safety, we ask all campers not to wear any form of jewelry items during their camp week such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings etc. Also, long hair requires to be secured and tied down.

 

Allergies

If your child has a severe allergy you are required to supply on your child’s first signing in day camp, two EpiPen’s identified with your child’s name. One for your child and one for the camp.

Soccer School EDS

Beginners / Average / Advanced

 

Soccer School EDS is focused on developing soccer skills for beginners, average and advanced players ages 4-14. Students can expect a supportive environment while learning and having fun!

Our programs are designed to develop young soccer players through the early stages of their soccer ambitions through meaningful, well-organized training sessions. The programs focus on individual players and are designed to develop technical proficiency while ensuring fun and safety. Training sessions are instructed by experienced competitive soccer players.

 

 

 

 

Soccer School EDS (FAQ)

Introduction to soccer 

4-5 years old program

This program is specifically designed to cultivate your child’s love for the game and to further advance their overall co-ordination skills and motor development such as running, hopping, jumping, and more. Soccer uniform included

The uniform is included in the price. It includes one jersey, one pair of shorts and one pair of soccer socks for each student. One uniform is supplied for each student during the yearly schedule. The uniforms are disturbed 30 minutes before the first session of each course.

 

What to buy

Soccer shoes with cleats, shin guards and water bottle.  Mandatory! You can purchase them at a Premium Soccer, a Sports Expert or any other sports store.

 

First session

Students are advised to arrive 30 minutes before their first session in order to receive their uniform and change into their uniform including their soccer shoes with cleats and shin guards.

 

Cancellations

Cancellations may occur during the year. The cancelled sessions will be replaced with a later date. You will be advised by e-mail concerning cancellations and the rescheduled dates.

 

Health 

Students with symptoms such as fever, coughing, vomiting contagious illness etc. are not permitted to participate in their session.

 

Safety 

Soccer shoes with cleats and shin guards are mandatory for each session. In order to avoid injuries, students will not be permitted to attend their session if they don’t have their soccer shoes or shin guards. Single knotted shoelaces tend to undo rather quickly during training therefore, we strongly recommend the student or parent to double knot the laces. No jewelry is permitted and long hair requires to be tied.

Saint-Laurent Soccer Tournament

 

Saint-Laurent Soccer Clubs 5th Home tournament will be held on Labor Day weekend on September 04-06, 2020. Once a year Saint-Laurent Soccer Club hosts a home weekend soccer tournament for the Intercity Competitive League categories U8 to U12. Games are played in our Home Parks: Marcel Laurin, Noël-Nord and Philippe Laheurte. Volunteers of all ages are welcomed to volunteer and are much appreciated!

Due to the present Covid-19 outbreak teams will not be required to pay until the ban has been officially lifted. $50.00 fee will apply for late registrations or payments not received before June 15, 2020.

Competitive League Winter

 

Registrations open in September!

The competitive winter league program is reserved for competitive teams in order to train during the fall and winter seasons. The technical training program prepares the teams to compete at a higher skill level and capacity in order to be ready in the summer season.

Players wanting to join a winter or summer competitive team require to attend a tryout session within their age category. Procedures concerning the tryouts are indicated in the last line below.

You can register online or during office hours provided the player is already registered with a team. New players which were accepted into a team require to register at the office during office hours. The deadline to register is November 1.

 

When does the season start and for how long?

 

The fall, winter training program starts in November and ends in the month of April. The season is for 21 weeks.

 

How many times per week, which days?

 

Depending on the level of the team it varies from 2 – 3 days a week. The training is either during the weeknights, weekends or both.

 

What is the cost?

 

The cost varies on a yearly basis and is announced when the registrations open in September.

The passport and head pictures must be updated (if expired or expiring) for the players and coaching staff if the team plans to join a winter league or participate in tournaments during the winter and fall season.

Refunds require to be handwritten using the Refund Credit Policy Form and submitted by e-mail or submitted in person during office hours. Credit notes may apply if a refund is not accepted. Credit notes can be applied within one year towards a different program we offer. Refunds are issued by check and require four-week delivery
